Minnesota-based Zero6 Energy is partnering with Faith Technologies Incorporated (FTI) to design, develop and install electric vehicle charging sites in California and Wisconsin. The businesses received a $14.4 million grant from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and California Energy Commission as well as $879,169 from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and Wisconsin Electric Vehicle Infrastructure. Zero6 Energy will finance, own and operate the charging stations. FTI will design, develop and install the charging stations integrating ChargePoint hardware and software. FTI’s national network of service technicians will also maintain and optimize the charging stations after installation.
By April 1, 2025, intrastate motor carriers in Wisconsin are required to use electronic logging devices in compliance with a final rule issued by the state in March 2024. To make it easier for these carriers to comply with the rule, J. J. Keller & Associates, Inc. is offering its ELD Quick Comply Program, featuring the company’s Encompass Fleet Management System with ELDs.

Schneider National, Inc., Green Bay, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Maryland-based Cowan Systems, LLC and affiliated entities for a cash purchase price of approximately $390 million. The sale includes separate agreements to purchase certain real estate assets relating to Cowan Systems’ business for approximately $31 million in cash.
Lakeside Foods announced it is purchasing Oregon-based Smith Frozen Foods for an undisclosed price and closing a plant in Manitowoc.
The Prevea Appleton Health Center at 10 E. College Ave. in Fox Commons has opened. It is Prevea’s second new location in the Fox Valley, following the opening of the Prevea Grand Chute Health Center, located at 3750 N. Investors Court in Grand Chute, in 2022.
Construction
Bayland Buildings completed an 8,500-square-foot building that will serve as a community center in the town of Riverview. The facility will house the sheriff’s office, veterans affairs, health and human services as well as town administrative offices.
McMahon contributed to a significant expansion project at Appleton East High School to address its crowded facility, necessitating 12 additional classrooms and expanded fitness facilities. In addition, McMahon and VerHalen have officially broken ground on VerHalen’s 18,950-square-foot office in the town of Lawrence. McMahon is also leading the structural and civil engineering while providing construction and contract administrative services. Arla Foods has selected McMahon to provide design services for a milk intake expansion in Hollandtown. Nicolet Bank used McMahon’s architectural, structural and electrical services for its recent branch remodel in Ishpeming, Michigan. Furthermore, McMahon will continue its decades-long partnership with Road America by working on a new pedestrian bridge on the front straightaway, a new north paddock and administrative parking areas.
Keller, Inc. is the architect and general contractor/builder on a 2,670-square-foot addition and a 1,530-square-foot interior remodel project for Stay and Play Pet House located at 3792 Jackson St., Oshkosh.
Grants
Jewelers Mutual Group recently unveiled its evolved community giving approach. The company’s giving priorities emphasize youth empowerment, technological advancement and community progression. Each quarter, Jewelers Mutual’s impact fund team evaluates funding requests from the communities where its employees work and live, including the Fox Valley.
The Door County Land Trust announced landowners Michael and Ann Morgan donated a 13-acre conservation easement agreement on their property south of Egg Harbor.
Shawano Area Community Foundation has announced $41,000 in grants to 19 nonprofit organizations.
Amcor and Kraft Heinz donated more than 78,000 boxes of Kraft macaroni and cheese to food banks across the country. Fox Valley food pantries received 49,000 of those boxes.
The Green Bay Packers Foundation announced it has distributed $1.5 million in annual grants to 398 civic and charitable groups throughout the state of Wisconsin in its annual distribution of grants. Of the foundation’s contributions, 54 grants — aggregating $210,550 — were awarded to Brown County organizations.
Wisconsin Distributors, in collaboration with WNCY-Y100, Wisconsin International Raceway and Monday Motorsports, announced a donation of $3,000 to the Folds of Honor Foundation.
Brown County United Way and the Greater Green Bay Labor Council completed their 13th annual diaper drive, collecting a total of 94,609 diapers, pull-ups and wipes valued at an estimated $40,733. The items were distributed through Family & Childcare Resources of Northeast Wisconsin, Love Life Ministry and other local nonprofits.
North Shore Bank hosted toy drives for local organizations at eight of its branches, including Green Bay East, Green Bay West, Allouez, Ashwaubenon, Appleton-Northland, Menasha, Door County Sturgeon Bay and Door County Sister Bay.
The Runway 5K run/walk hosted by EAA during the annual EAA AirVenture Oshkosh fly-in convention benefited Father Carr’s Place 2B, as the Oshkosh-based community center received more than $8,500 in proceeds from the event.
The Green Bay Packers and the NFL Foundation Grassroots Program have awarded a $250,000 grant to the St. Francis Public School District in suburban Milwaukee to install a synthetic turf field at St. Francis High School. An additional $50,000 has been awarded to Fox Valley Pop Warner Football, Inc. to fund field improvements at the Challenger Accessible Football Field at Plamann Park in Appleton.
SECURA Insurance is donating $39,000 to 13 nonprofits as part of its annual SECURA Gives Back contest. More than 250 agents participated by nominating the nonprofit of their choice to win a $3,000 donation.

Bellin Hospital was awarded an “A” grade for hospital safety by The Leapfrog Group, marking the 13th consecutive time it has received this recognition. In addition, The Leapfrog Group has awarded 19 Advocate Health hospitals an “A” rating for excellence in patient safety, including Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay; Aurora Medical Center Manitowoc County in Manitowoc; Aurora Medical Center Oshkosh in Oshkosh; and Aurora Medical Center Sheboygan County in Kohler.
