A cheese from a new north company was among the top 20 in the World Championship Cheese Contest.
An Aged Cheddar Midget made by Joshua Henning of Henning’s Cheese in Kiel was among the top 20 cheeses in the contest. Second place in the aged cheddar category also was made by Hennings.
It was one of only two Wisconsin cheeses that ranked in the top 20 with the other being Cello Artisan Copper Kettle Parmesan made by Lake Country Dairy for Schuman Cheese in Turtle Lake.
In the Traditional Waxed Cheddar, Sharp to Aged category, Hennings crafted the top seven winning cheeses. Henning’s Dragon’s Breath Cheddar took home a first as well.
Joshua Henning is a fourth generation licensed cheesemaker who joined the family business fulltime in 2014.
