Kohler Foundation announced it is providing an annually renewable gift of $250,000 to Lakeshore Technical College to support local youth pursuing higher education.
“The Kohler Foundation has been dedicated to supporting learning from the outset. We are pleased to announce new funding specifically aimed at supporting local high school students as they commence their educational endeavors at Lakeshore Technical College. Through this investment in expanding educational opportunities, we not only empower individual ambitions but also enhance the well-being of the entire community. Recognizing education as the bedrock of progress, our goal with this funding is to uplift and motivate students to continue their educational pursuits, thereby contributing to the advancement and prosperity of our community,” said Laura Roenitz, executive director at Kohler Foundation, Inc.
Lakeshore offers 71 associate degrees and technical diplomas. With more than 9,000 students served annually, Lakeshore Technical College plays a pivotal role in shaping the region’s workforce. Over 94% of Lakeshore graduates stay and work in the area after they complete their education. The financial support provided by the Kohler Foundation will go directly toward scholarships, facilitating access to education for students in the region and strengthening our community.
Lakeshore President Paul Carlsen said, “The impact of an ongoing gift is generational. The fact that Kohler Foundation will be providing an annually renewable gift of $250,000 to the Lakeshore Technical College Educational Excellence Scholarship is a profound investment in our region’s students, the overwhelming majority of whom stay local after they graduate from our college. For example, over the next 10 years, a renewable scholarship like this will support more than 450 students with a collective $2.5 million in scholarship funds to achieve their academic goals.”
