Lakeside Book Company to close Menasha plant, layoff 339

Lakeside Book Company will close is Menasha printing facility by June 21 leaving 339 employees without jobs.

The company said in a letter to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development that changing market conditions had led to the decision.

The company expects to begin employment separations on June 7 and will continue until the entire plant is closed. Each employee will receive a written 60-day notice of position elimination and will be paid all earned wages and agreed upon benefits at the time of their termination.

The R.R. Donnelly plant became part of LSC Communications in 2016. LSC was acquired by Atlas Holdings in 2020 in the midst of a bankruptcy reorganization. LSC and Atlas had closed a number of plants across the U.S. in recent years.
