Lawrence University announced that American Dining Creations will be the new campus dining service, beginning with the start of the 2024-25 academic year July 1.
The current food service provider Bon Appetit Management Company said in a letter to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development that it would permanently layoff its staff of 62 people following traditional summer furloughs that begin June 17.
“We appreciate the dedication of our employees and deeply regret that we are required to take these steps,” the letter said. “While no formal bumping rights are applicable, to further support employees, we are helping connect them to opportunities to move into open positions within our broader company. We understand that the new food service provider for Lawrence University plans to offer employment to many of Bon Appetit’s existing workforce at Lawrence University.”
Representatives from American Dining Creations are preparing for the transition on campus.
The decision to contract with American Dining Creations is the result of an evaluation by staff, faculty, and student representatives of several national vendors and the hosting of campus visits for three finalists. Vendors were evaluated on meal planning, operations, personnel, food education, catering, experience in the field of higher education, and resource management.
Lawrence Unversity said in a statement, “We would like to thank Bon Appetit for its many years of service with us. We would also like to thank all the students, faculty, and staff who have provided feedback and who participated in the selection process.”
American Dining Creations, based in New York and owned by American Food & Vending, operates in 20 states and employs more than 1,500 people.
