As we start Women’s History Month, I think of how strong communities are built when more voices are invited into the room. The best decisions, the strongest organizations and the most resilient leaders are shaped by perspectives that challenge our own. Over time, I have learned that leadership isn’t about the loudest voice in the room; it’s about making space for voices shaped by different experiences.
This past year has shown us that progress is not a straight line. In business, in leadership and in our community as a whole, there are moments when it feels like we move forward, and moments when the path feels less certain. Progress has always required people willing to take up space, even when it feels uncomfortable. Standing tall is not about confrontation; it is about presence and choosing to lead with confidence even when the path forward feels uncertain.
There is always room to grow in how we support one another. When women support women, the impact reaches far beyond individual success. Collaboration creates opportunity more than competition ever could. Creating space can be as simple as making an introduction, extending an invitation or opening a door someone else may not know how to knock on yet.
This is why I love my role as publisher of Insight. It allows me to help create that space and to provide a platform that celebrates women and men alike. We aim to bring our business community together through networking, shared stories and conversations with the leaders who are shaping our region. Our Meet the Women of Influence event this month is a great example of this. We’re bringing together our Women of Influence honorees for a high-level, interactive conversation to help build connections and to fill the room with a variety of voices.
I am grateful for the women who have lifted others along the way and for the men who continue to open doors and broaden networks. Shared success is the foundation of a strong team, a strong business and a strong community.
