The NEW Manufacturing Insights podcast celebrated its one-year anniversary today with a live recording at Werner Electric Supply in Appleton, featuring company president Craig Wiedemeier.
Wiedemeier joined co-hosts Ann Franz of the NEW Manufacturing Alliance and Kate Bruns of Insight on Manufacturing magazine for the podcast’s 48th episode, which helped kick off Manufacturing Month 2024 in Wisconsin. About 60 business leaders were on hand for the recording, which was followed by a cybersecurity panel featuring industry experts from Werner Electric and Rockwell Automation, as well as tours of Werner Electric Supply. B.J. DeGroot of Woodward Community Media is the show’s producer and helped make the live show possible.

“When we started, our core competency was around automation. That evolved a few decades ago into us growing the commercial construction part of our business and helping local customers support their needs from a construction standpoint,” Wiedemeier told the co-hosts and audience on this week’s episode. “Now … we believe we need to position ourselves more than just providing pieces and parts, if you will, to customers and knowledge to them, we need to provide whole solutions and drive outcomes with them, whether that’s in construction, manufacturing, industrial automation, so that’s really been an evolution for our organization specifically over the past few years.”
