Manitowoc Chamber presents annual awards

The Chamber of Manitowoc County held its prestigious Awards of Distinction on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at the Capitol Civic Centre, Manitowoc. The Awards of Distinction was presented by Marquee Sponsors: Froedtert Holy Family Memorial and Nicolet National Bank.

“It was wonderful to gather as a community to celebrate the positive collaborations, inspiring individuals and business successes,” says Chamber Executive Director Abbey Quistorf. “Congratulations to all of the nominees and to the winners.”

The awards program was hosted by Co-Masters of Ceremonies Courtney Hansen, Director of Tourism for the City of Manitowoc (Visit Manitowoc) and Candice Giesen, Director of Advancement for Roncalli Catholic Schools.

Collaboration: Recognizes a Manitowoc County project, activity or event for its progress, success, innovation, and contribution to the community during 2023. The winner was the Central Park West 365 Project.

Education Impact: Recognizes an exceptionally dedicated educator who impacts parents, students, or the community beyond the scope of the classroom while integrating business and community resources to enhance student learning opportunities. The 2023 Education Impact award winner was: Jennifer Wachowski, School District of Mishicot.

Healthy Workplace: Recognizes a Manitowoc County organization for its focus and commitment to promoting a safe and healthy work environment. The winner was: Americollect.

Large Business/Industry of the Year: Recognizes a Manitowoc county business (26+ Employees) for its growth, success, innovation and contribution to the community during 2023. The winner was: Briess Malt & Ingredients Co.

Non-Profit Organization of the Year: Recognizes a Manitowoc County non-profit organization for its dedication to serving the community at-large. The winner was: United Way Manitowoc County.

Small Business of the Year: Recognizes a Manitowoc county business (Less than 25 employees) for its growth, success, innovation and contribution to the community during 2023. The winner was: Bartow Builders.

Young Professional (YP) of the Year: Honors a role model in career, community and future impact. The winners was Ryan Brahmstadt, Seehafer Broadcasting Corporation.

Volunteer of the Year: Beth Kohlman.

Athena: The Athena leadership award is presented to a woman — or man — who is honored for professional excellence, community service and for actively assisting women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills. The winner was Dr. Phyllis Schippers.

Joseph P. Schmitt “Speak Up” Award: This award was established in 1967 to honor the late Chamber Executive Joseph P. Schmitt. This award recognizes an individual who has made exceptional contributions to the quality of life for citizens of Manitowoc County over a period of time. The award was presented by 2022 winners Jason and Tina Prigge. The winner was the Rev. Dr. Matthew Sauer.
