Assist to Transport/Student Transportation of America, Inc. in Manitowoc announced in a letter to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development that it would cease operations at the end of the year.
Its 39 employees will be laid off permanently.
The company has provided para transport services to the city of Manitowoc for nine years. City officials said they have been looking into bringing the service in house for several months.
