Marshfield Clinic Health System announced Jan. 16 that 3 percent of its workforce or about 360 people will be furloughed in a cost cutting measure.

The length of the furloughs was not specified. Marshfield employs about 12,000 employees and has locations primarily in central and northern Wisconsin including Wittenberg in Shawano County.

The statement said furloughed staff will be “largely non-patient-seeing departments, including leadership roles.”

The statement also said: “Our health system spans more than 45,000 square miles, and we’re the leading care provider in many of the communities we serve. Managing rising supply and labor costs are key to continuing to meet the needs of our patients across the region.”
