Mayville Engineering to close Wautoma plant laying off 42

Mayville Engineering Company, Inc. will permanently close its plant in Wautoma, laying off all 43 employees.

The letter to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development states that 26 positions will be eliminated Nov. 16, another 16 on Nov. 22. A production manager’s last day is Jan. 31.

Mayville Engineering became a publicly owned company five years ago and moved its headquarters to Milwaukee in 2023. 

The company acquire privately held Mid-States Aluminum Corp. for $96 million in 2023.

In its second quarter report for 2024, the company forecast net sales between $520 million and $640 million.
