Moraine Park Technical College is expanding its academic offerings with the launch of two new associate degree programs beginning in Fall 2026: Foundations of Teacher Education and Fire Medic.

The new Foundations of Teacher Education Associate of Applied Science degree is designed for individuals interested in supporting student learning in K-12 schools and pursuing careers in education. Graduates will be prepared to work primarily in elementary and middle school settings as paraprofessionals and educational support professionals.

The degree program is offered fully online. With Moraine Park’s bachelor’s degree transfer opportunities, becoming a licensed educator for kindergarten through ninth grade can start locally and for a fraction of the cost. The program offers dual credit opportunities, allowing high school students interested in pursuing a degree in education to take courses that count toward their Foundations of Teacher Education degree.

Moraine Park is also launching the Fire Medic Associate of Applied Science degree. The comprehensive curriculum combines firefighter and paramedic training, equipping students with the knowledge and hands-on skills needed to respond to the diverse emergencies faced by today’s fire and rescue departments.

Upon completion, graduates will be eligible to take the National Registry EMT-Paramedic examination, as well as the state of Wisconsin Certified Firefighter 1 and Certified Firefighter 2 examinations. Graduates will enter the workforce prepared to serve in public and private emergency response organizations.

Students interested in beginning either program this fall are encouraged to apply by July 15.
