Barrel 41 Brewing Co. announced on Facebook that it will close at the end of the year after five years in business.

The Facebook post reads in part: “Barrel 41 started out as a wild idea between Nathan Sharpless & Lance Goodman: the dream of opening a brewery in our hometown. In 2018, our families, closest friends, & all of you gathered to help make that dream a reality. What happened in the years between then & now is something we will hold onto forever.

With the conclusion of our lease, we were tasked with the difficult decision of what to do next. We’ll treasure this chapter and the connections that we made, but have decided to check out what else the future holds for us! We want to express our deepest gratitude to every person who stepped in our door & experienced the wonder that we set out to create. Barrel 41 was inspired by the greats that make up the world of craft beer, but encompassed more than just that. Our intention was to create a warm & welcoming environment which brought people together.”

The business on South Commercial Street in Neenah will serve beer through Dec. 31 and is trying to sell its assets, listing brewing and bartending equipment.
