Neenah Foundry Fire contained to sand tower

A fire at Neenah Foundry’s Plant 2 on Aylward Street in Neenah took about 3 hours to extinguish May 29.

The fire reported at 8:10 p.m. started and was contained to a sand tower. There was no estimate of damage and the cause remains under investigation.

The company said in a statement:

“We are relieved to report that there were no injuries to employees or first responders. The safety of our employees and the community is our highest priority. The building was evacuated immediately in accordance with our emergency procedures, and all personnel were accounted for. An investigation is currently underway in coordination with local fire authorities to determine the cause of the incident. We are also assessing the extent of the damage and working with relevant agencies and insurers to support recovery efforts.”
