New North, Inc. celebrates 20 years

As New North, Inc. marks itsĀ 20th anniversary, the organization proudly reflects on two decades of resilience, progress and transformative impact across Northeast Wisconsin. Founded in 2005, New North has become a beacon of regional collaboration and economic innovation.

Through changing economic tides, industrial shifts and unexpected global challenges, New North has stood steadfast, adapting and evolving to meet the needs of the region. Its commitment to innovation and strategic partnerships has propelled initiatives in workforce development, infrastructure enhancement and talent retention. These efforts have not only bolstered local communities but also garnered national recognition, positioning Northern Wisconsin as a dynamic hub for business and investment.

At the heart of New North’s success is its dedication to collaboration — a guiding principle since its inception. The organization has prioritized inclusive growth, ensuring economic opportunities benefit everyone in the 18-county region.

As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, New North’s leadership and funding are largely driven by the private sector.Ā  Jerry Murphy, the inaugural executive director, set the foundation for New North’s enduring legacy. Over the years, seven co-chairs — Bob DeKoch, Kathi Seifert, Bill Bohn, Vicki Updike, Michelle Schuler, Sachin Shivaram and Mary Goggans — along with 112 board executives have steered the organization’s vision. Today, the board comprises 42 executives, with a waiting list of CEOs eager to contribute to our mission.
