Nonprofit agency Newcap has filed for bankruptcy.

The organization, which worked to help the homeless, ceased operations earlier this month after reporting a $2 million deficit the last two years. The filing lists $4 million in debts, with just less than $6 million in assets.

Newcap came under scrutiny this year following reports that its former CEO, Cheryl Detrick, saw her salary more than double while the organization was operating at a deficit.

A hearing on the bankruptcy case is set for April 22.
