Seven people recently completed the 13-week Road to Success childcare training program which aims to help address the shortage of childcare workers in the Fox Valley.

“These graduates are stepping into one of the most important roles in our community,” says Child Care Resource & Referral Executive Director Candy Hall. “They are not just caregivers—they are educators, nurturers, and role models who will shape the lives of the children they work with on a daily basis.”

The in-person training program included foundational coursework in early childhood development, CPR/AED, safety and first aid, and social emotional development.

The program is a collaboration between Child Care Resource and Referral, Oshkosh Area United Way, Forward Service Corporation, and the Fox Valley Workforce Development Board. Through Quality Jobs, Equity, Strategy, and Training (QUEST) funding provided by the Fox Valley Workforce Development Board, the program was available at no charge to participants, who also received assistance with child care and transportation needs.

A second round of the “Road to Success” program recently began, with 9 individuals enrolled to participate. Round 2 of the program will offer a hybrid mix of in-person and online classes, to conclude in September 2025.

A third and final round of the “Road to Success” program is planned to begin with both online and virtual classes on Sept. 6. All training costs, tuition, mileage to and from the training center, along with childcare, are covered by the FVWDB’s QUEST grant.
