Oshkosh Area United Way announced that President and CEO Beth Oswald retired Jan. 5.
“I made this decision after a great deal of reflection,” said Oswald. “Knowing the organization is well positioned for the future and supported by an incredible team and a strong board makes this feel like the right decision at the right time. I’m looking forward to spending more time with my family and finally giving attention to personal projects I’ve long set aside. I’m deeply grateful for the trust and partnership of our staff, Board of Directors, donors, volunteers, and community partners—and for the meaningful work that has made this chapter so fulfilling. I am committed to doing everything possible to ensure a smooth transition.”
Oswald jointed OAUW in September 2022.
Heidi Thomas, OAUW’s current Community Impact Manager, has been named the next president and CEO.
“Beth’s leadership has been instrumental in strengthening key relationships, building a strong team for the future, and advancing a clear vision for the organization, and we wish her all the best in her next chapter,” said Bryan Brandt, Board Chair of Oshkosh Area United Way. “Under her leadership, Heidi has played a key role in advancing the organization’s vision and Community Impact Strategy. As a result, we are excited to move forward with an internal succession plan and are confident that Heidi’s experience, leadership, and deep understanding of our community position her well to build on this work moving forward.”
Thomas joined OAUW just over two years ago after a mutual acquaintance introduced her to Oswald during a meeting of the Oshkosh Chapter of Professional Women’s Connection.
“I am grateful for the trust of the Board and for the opportunity to serve this community in a new way,” said Thomas. “Oshkosh Area United Way has a strong foundation, a committed team, and meaningful partnerships across the region. I look forward to building on this momentum and working together to improve access to learning, health, and essential resources for everyone in our community.”
