Bayland Buildings has paid $644,000 in back taxes owed by the Oshkosh Arena opening the door to a new season for the Wisconsin Herd basketball team.
Payment of the taxes clears the way for the city to issue a liquor license and makes the arena eligible for tax increment financing. The Herd has announced six home game dates.
It was announced in early August that VenuWorks will manage the facility while it remains in receivership. VenuWorks manages more than 50 venues in 13 states and employs more than 3,500 people.
The arena was placed in receivership after the owner, Fox Valley Pro Basketball, stopped making mortgage payments and property taxes earlier this year. Bayland Buildings is looking to foreclose on the facility and according to court documents is owed more than $12 million.
