The Best Western Premier Waterfront Hotel will close for remodeling at the end of January and reopen in April or May, according to a letter sent to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development.

The closure will result in the temporary layoff of 33 employees. Janay Jarrett, of LBMC Employment Partners, announced the layoffs in a letter to the State of Wisconsin Dislocated Worker Unit Nov. 3.

Scarlett Hotel Group purchased the hotel, at 1 Main St., earlier this year and announced plans for renovations.

The hotel includes 176 guest rooms, 5,600 square feet of meeting and event space in the hotel, 19,000 square feet of meeting space in the convention center, on-site restaurant and catering services, and lakefront and riverfront views.
