The Green Bay Packers Foundation awarded more than $1.5 million to 321 nonprofit organizations last year.
The 2023 grant cycle focused on programs working in the areas of the elderly, homelessness, human services and hunger. Grants were awarded in 50 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties and included 109 organizations in the New North region.
Grant applications are accepted online May 1 to July 1 each year and must be submitted with a project/program that addresses one of that year’s specific focus areas.
Specific project/program focus areas by year are:
- 2024 – arts and culture, athletics, education
- 2025 – animal welfare, civic and community, environmental, health and wellness (including drug/alcohol and domestic violence)
The foundation has distributed over $20 million to local charities since its inception in 1986.
In addition to grants, the foundation uses other resources to support the community.
“It includes alumni visits, Make-A-Wish visits, it also includes a lot of work we do for veterans and members of the military,” said Mark Murphy, the Packers president and CEO. “Our numerous in-kind donations, football outreach activities, and community events so it’s a very broad base of support.”
