Paul Baniel, who will retire this fall from the Green Bay Packers after more than a decade as vice president of finance and administration, will be honored with a lifetime achievement award by Insight Publications Dec. 5 during the inaugural CFO of the Year event at Lambeau Field.
Baniel joined the Packers in 2009 as vice president of finance and in 2012 was named vice president of finance and administration. He has had a 37-year career in the sports and entertainment industry including roles with the Milwaukee Brewers and as chief financial officer for Potawatomi Hotel and Casino. Baniel is a certified public accountant and chartered global management accountant.
His influence for the Packers extended beyond financial matters, including contributions to Lambeau Field’s renovation, Titletown’s development and his representation of the Packers at the NFL level on economic issues.
“As the chair of the audit committee for the Green Bay Packers, I have enjoyed my partnership with Paul Baniel over the last three years,” said Rob Gilson, retired CEO of Imperial Supplies. “His integrity, character, discipline and dedication to financial excellence are second to none. His strong leadership, strategic thinking and superior communication skills [have] made Paul a major contributor to the Packers success over the last 15 years.”
