On every cover of Insight, we share the story of a local business, usually through the perspective of its CEO or president. Most are quick to point out their success wouldn’t be possible without their team — the dedicated individuals who support various aspects of the business behind the scenes.
We decided it was time to bring more of these important contributions to the surface, which is why we are launching the CFO of the Year Awards this year. On Dec. 5, industry leaders from throughout the New North region will convene at Lambeau Field to honor the important work of often unrecognized financial leaders in our business community. The networking reception will include cocktails and heavy hors d’oeuvres, so come hungry and ready to mingle.
The awards program will shine a special spotlight on the career of Paul Baniel, who bid farewell to the Green Bay Packers this fall. Paul was selected as Insight’s Lifetime Achievement Award recipient for his 37-year finance career in the sports and entertainment industry. Starting with an accounting degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1983, Baniel’s legacy is peppered with significant roles — from 16 years with the Milwaukee Brewers and as the CFO of Potawatomi Hotel and Casino, to his incredible chapter with the Packers where Baniel has been instrumental in projects like Lambeau Field’s renovation and Titletown’s development.
In addition to Paul’s presentation, each finalist will be recognized on stage, and a CFO of the Year in each of six categories will be unveiled for the first time that night. It will be an exciting evening — I sincerely hope you can attend.
Special thanks to Miron Construction for sponsoring our inaugural CFO of the Year event. I hope to see you Dec. 5. as we celebrate Paul and the rest of this year’s impressive finalists. To register, visit insightonbusiness.com/cfo.
