Jennifer Clement, client relationship leader at CLA, joins co-hosts Ann Franz of the NEW Manufacturing Alliance and Kate Bruns of Insight on Manufacturing on this week’s new episode of the NEW Manufacturing Insights podcast, sponsored by Werner Electric Supply.

Clement is one of six leaders who shared insights on tariffs and global trade in her essay “Ten Steps to Reduce Tariff Exposure for Mid-Market Manufacturers” for the July IOM cover story, out this week.

Clement began working in manufacturing early, helping with her grandfather’s family manufacturing business in Menominee Falls at age 8, and later worked for a supply chain consultancy, during which she moved with her husband and family Shanghai, China, for four years.

That was during President Trump’s first term, and she and her company “really learned how to deal with the volatile risk era that we were in as it related to that first round of tariffs that hit manufacturing,” Clement says.

Now, in her role with CLA, Clement is passionate about “helping manufacturers — especially in the mid-and lower-middle ranges that may not have in-house resources and expertise — to deal with a pretty interesting trade environment,” Clement says.

As of January 20, as discussions around tariffs resumed and margins are being compressed, “manufacturers are keenly interested to figure out what they can do to reduce their risk at this time,” Clement says.
