On this week’s episode of the NEW Manufacturing Insights podcast, sponsored by Werner Electric Supply, Dan Shea of Shea Electric and Communications joins co-hosts Ann Franz of the NEW Manufacturing Alliance and Kate Bruns of Insight on Manufacturing to share the history of his business, his rewarding experiences with youth apprenticeship as a talent attraction strategy, and what he sees as the future of electrical technology in Northeast Wisconsin and beyond.
“Nobody wants to go backward with technology — nobody. So we’re always looking at what’s cutting edge,” Shea says on this week’s episode. “People think EV charging is a fad; it’s not a fad. One of the things I like to say is change is inevitable, but the struggle is optional. So that’s our blessing is that we are always chasing what’s next.”
Shea, who started his business in 2006, says he made a concerted effort to engage prospective workers in the high school space starting in 2010.
“It’s the best move I ever made. It’s not a cost; it’s an investment,” he says.
