The 12th episode of NEW Manufacturing Insights, a joint podcast of the Northeast Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance (NEWMA) and Insight on Manufacturing (IOM) magazine sponsored by ICON Marketing, is now available. The latest episode features Renee Torzala of New North, Inc., who helps co-hosts Kate Bruns and Ann Franz take a deeper dive into the January 2024 Insight on Manufacturing cover story, released this week.
This month’s cover story celebrates on the “Cool Stuff” made in Northeast Wisconsin and is in part inspired by New North Inc.’s “Cool Stuff” marketing campaign, which is overseen by Torzala.
Torzala told Bruns and Franz that her organization plans to do more not only with “Cool Stuff” — including people, places and products — in the new year but also launch an additional campaign focused on Wisconsin’s thriving outdoor recreation industry, which includes manufacturing of outdoor rec products, and is a huge driver of not only tourism but also talent attraction for our 18-county region.
“Wisconsin’s outdoor rec industry added a record $9.8 billion to the state economy in 2022 — that’s almost a 7% increase,” Torzala said, further explaining that “Wisconsin ranks 5th in the U.S. for the share of all jobs in outdoor recreation-related manufacturing, so that’s a pretty significant ranking.”
