Nutt, who has worked for Fincantieri since 2011, shares his passion for shipbuilding with this week’s listeners.

“What I really like about shipbuilding is the integration of all the steps and the complexity of human processes coupled with the complexity of technology,” he says.

Nutt also discussed the U.S. Navy’s recent cancellation of Fincantieri’s contract to build four Constellation-class frigates and the fact that a recent federal announcement has been a relief to the organization and its Wisconsin workforce.

“We’re proud of the confidence the Navy has in us when they have a change in course on one program,” says Nutt, who adds that he can’t yet speak in detail about the new military contract. “It wasn’t reflective of us as a prospective offerer of the new fleet. It’s definitely a great fit.”
