Local news about the companies, people and issues that impact business in Northeast Wisconsin and beyond.

Katie Miner, who was recently named president of the Greenville-based robotics company QComp Technologies, is this week’s guest on Insight on Manufacturing magazine’s and the NEW Manufacturing Alliance’s weekly podcast, NEW Manufacturing Insights.

Miner previously served as vice president of QComp’s holding company, OwnersEdge, which boasts a portfolio of unique employee-owned Midwest companies. She says the opportunity to lead QComp comes at an exciting time, as automation takes another major leap forward.

While robotics on the manufacturing floor are certainly not new, Miner says they have evolved rapidly since even 10 or 15 years ago, when QComp’s products were primarily pre-programmed robotic arms.

“Robotics systems have evolved so much over time,” she tells the co-hosts on this week’s episode. “Now they’re highly sophisticated machines capable of complex actions.”
