Local news about the companies, people and issues that impact business in Northeast Wisconsin and beyond.

Howard Hauser and Mike Berns, co-authors of the new book Value Creation is Everything, join co-hosts Ann Franz of the NEW Manufacturing Alliance and Kate Bruns of Insight on Manufacturing on this week’s new episode of the NEW Manufacturing Insights podcast, sponsored by Werner Electric Supply.

Listen as Hauser and Berns share what they have learned over four decades in entrepreneurship and industry — including 23 years coaching and consulting together in Northeast Wisconsin.

The book, Hauser says, is an attempt to make their extensive knowledge and experience accessible for the public.

“The hardest part was boiling 40 years of experience into something that was simple and easy for people to understand,” Hauser says on this week’s podcast. “Because we’re business guys writing for other business people, we wanted to write it so it was simple and easy to get.”

Hauser reveals that one of the biggest misconceptions people have about business growth is that growth is the biggest thing to worry about.

“[Businesses] see growth as the avenue to success,” he tells Bruns and Franz. “And so growth, that’s their whole purpose for being, almost, and that’s the wrong purpose, the wrong place. They should be focusing on how to create value for all their stakeholders.”
