Wisconsin school districts will receive about $140 million less than originally expected for special education services this year, according to a Wisconsin Public Radio report.

The state of Wisconsin will reimburse services at 35% instead of the expected 42%.

School districts spent more on special education than estimated by the Legislative Fiscal Bureau. This means districts may have to ask for taxpayer money in referendums next year to make up the difference.
