Escaping to the kitchen

“As a self-proclaimed foodie, ‘What should I make for dinner’ is a question I often ask myself. For over a decade now, to unwind from a long day, I love to cook. British chef Jamie Oliver has a show called ‘5-Ingredients: Quick & Easy Food with Jamie Oliver’ that I am obsessed with. I am captivated by the simplicity of his recipes and his ability to create healthy dishes from scratch with minimal ingredients. Additionally, if you love Persian food like me, I highly recommend, ‘Zaitoun: Recipes from the Palestinian Kitchen’ by Yasmin Khan. She enters the kitchens of Palestinians of all ages and backgrounds, discovering the secrets of their cuisine and sharing their heart-tugging stories. A must-read!”

Finding inspiration

“During my daily commute to work or stroll outside, my go-to podcast is ‘Second Life.’ Host Hillary Kerr spotlights successful women who’ve made major career changes. While I and other listeners may not be looking to make a large change, ‘Second Life’ can also describe how your career has evolved. The topics and guests speak to finding success and working through challenges in different types of businesses, which is insightful, inspiring and applicable to the day-to-day.”

What you need to know

“I’ve been listening to a lot of podcasts lately. One of my new faves is ‘Stuff you Should Know.’ Josh and Chuck (from the ‘Don’t be Dumb’  YouTube channel) pick a topic ranging from Port-a-Potties to astrophysics, research it and discuss it. They are super nerdy and fun.”

Motivational message

“‘A new podcast by two women from Northeast Wisconsin has quickly become one of my favorites. ‘The Sisterhood of Success’ is a positive and uplifting conversation that motivates me to be my best and to see the best in others. As real-life sisters, Rachel Lom and Dr. Jody Jedlicka want all women to feel the support and sense of belonging and acceptance they have always gotten from discussing the things that matter most and helping each other succeed. While tackling topics like taking action, living with intention and failing gracefully, they are funny and full of energy, and they make me feel like I can accomplish whatever I set my mind to!”
