Guilty summer pleasure

“My guilty summer pleasure is watching ‘The Bachelorette’ and participating in a fantasy league for the show. After investing so much brainpower into advancing the community during the work week, there’s nothing like a little mindless drama to help me unwind.”

Putting others first

“One book I always recommend is ‘Return on Character: The Real Reason Leaders and Their Companies Win.’ Author Fred Kiel … found that companies led by leaders that displayed high moral character traits such as integrity, responsibility, forgiveness and compassion had five times the return on assets than those led by lower-ranked individuals.During an age when it seems narcissism and a win-at-all-costs attitude prevails, Kiel sends a refreshing message that putting others first and exhibiting high moral character has a significant impact on the people you lead and ultimately your overall business performance.”

“My book club recently read ‘The Storyteller’ by Jodi Picoult. I have read her other books and enjoyed them, but ‘The Storyteller’ was excellent. The book moves between the Holocaust and present day with interesting, heartbreaking and heartwarming parts. I loved the multiple storylines and thought that the history (while so tragic) was amazing.”

New perspective

“I listen to podcasts every morning as I get ready for work. My favorite is Malcolm Gladwell’s ‘Revisionist History.’ He takes a topic from history that he says has been ‘overlooked’ and gives the rest — or sometimes the other side — of the story. It’s fascinating! I’ve read all of his books, too. He really makes you see things in different ways.”
