Rice Companies acquires Appleton construction firm

Rice Companies, a Minnesota design-build construction company, has acquired an Appleton general contractor.

CR Structures was acquired for an undisclosed price.

Rice Companies expands its services, including architecture, engineering, construction, facility maintenance, and development into the area. As a third- generation, family-owned company, Rice Companies has successfully completed over 3,500 commercial projects across dozens of states and employs more than 150 professionals.

“This expansion allows us to grow our capabilities and better serve our clients across the Midwest,” said Chris Rice, president and CEO of Rice Companies. “We are excited to build upon our long- standing relationship with Butler Manufacturing, as CR Structures was a Butler builder, as well as add multi-family housing and redevelopment construction expertise to our team. Most importantly, we remain dedicated to delivering trusted service and quality solutions to clients.”

Kip Golden, who has 20 years of construction industry experience in the Appleton market, will join Rice Companies as president of the Appleton location.

The Appleton location marks Rice Companies’ seventh location and fourth acquisition. Headquartered in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, Rice Companies also operates regional offices in Glencoe, Minneosta; Mankato, Minnesota; Fargo, North Dakota; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Cedar Falls, Iowa. Rice Companies is leasing office space at 327 Randolph Drive in Appleton.
