The S.S. Badger is back in service making daily trips between Manitowoc and Ludington, Michigan, after an equipment breakdown closed the ferry service in August.
A ramp system broke in Ludington and did not cause damage to the ship, but required extensive repairs. The Badger usually makes trips across the lake through October.
The ship can carry about 600 passengers and 180 vehicles. It accepts everything from cars, trucks, oversized loads, RVs and more.Â
The S.S. Badger first sailed across the lake in 1953, and was declared a National Historic Landmark in 2016.
The Badger offers onboard amenities like free movies, a museum, dining rooms, an arcade, shopping, outside deck access.
