Seroogy’s Chocolates announced the succession of Martha Seroogy as president. The appointment marks a significant milestone in the company’s 126-year history, as leadership transitions to the fourth generation of the Seroogy family.
Founded in 1899, Seroogy’s Chocolates traces its roots to brothers Joseph, James, Solomon and George Seroogy, who immigrated from Lebanon and opened Seroogy Bros Palace of Sweets in Green Bay. The business later passed to Joseph’s son, Alfred Seroogy, in 1958, and then to brothers Jim and Joe Seroogy in 1981, representing three generations of family stewardship prior to Martha’s appointment.
Martha succeeds her father, Joe, and her uncle, Jim, who have co-led the business for more than four decades. Under their tenure, Seroogy’s evolved from a local retail shop into a regional powerhouse, expanding operations from 1,200 square feet to over 70,000 square feet of production and retail space. They were instrumental in the strategic growth of the signature Meltaway Bar, which now produces nearly 3 million bars annually and serves as a primary engine for community fundraising efforts.
“My dad and uncle didn’t just grow a business; they built a community staple,” said Martha Seroogy. “Returning home to lead Seroogy’s is an incredible honor. Their focus on quality, integrity and people shaped this company. My goal is to preserve that legacy while evolving the brand for the next generation.”
Seroogy returns to the family business following nearly two decades of experience in marketing and operations. Her career highlights include serving as a senior executive for Cirque du Soleil’s first permanent residency in Hawaii and holding the role of vice president of marketing and partnerships for Blue Note Entertainment Group. Her background in large-scale brand strategy and guest experience will be instrumental as Seroogy’s continues to evolve its digital reach and retail experience.
“This company has earned trust by prioritizing quality and community over shortcuts,” said Seroogy. “My role isn’t to change what’s worked for more than 125 years, but to protect it. I’m committed to honoring our traditional methods, telling our story and pursuing responsible growth.”
As president, she will oversee operations, brand strategy and long-term growth initiatives, while honoring the company’s heritage, strengthening internal operations, supporting its team and identifying opportunities for thoughtful, sustainable growth.
As part of its long-term planning, Seroogy’s also announces their search for a lead chocolatier and product development manager.
The role will focus on safeguarding Seroogy’s proprietary recipes and techniques, supporting product innovation and ensuring the consistency and quality that customers have trusted for generations.
“When a business lasts this long, you stop thinking in quarters and start thinking in generations, and that perspective changes how you lead,” said Seroogy. “I see many opportunities for us to grow, but we still make chocolate by hand in small batches, the way we always have. That’s not a marketing decision. It’s who we are.”
