Streu’s Pharmacy announced it will pivot to long-term care pharmacy services and close its retail store at 635 Main St., Green Bay, Nov. 30.
“This is the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Streu’s Pharmacy, our patients and our community,” said Nicole Schreiner, CEO and owner of Streu’s Pharmacy. “By focusing our resources on our long-term care services, we can better meet the needs of our patients and partners while ensuring the future of our organization for decades to come.”
Streu’s long-term care pharmacy currently serves 2,200 patients in the greater Green Bay area, which provides specialized packaging of medications for patients. Streu’s has seen tremendous growth for its long-term care pharmacy services but declining reimbursement rates for the community and retail pharmacy.
“At Streu’s Pharmacy, we’ve worked tirelessly to keep our community pharmacy running, even as declining reimbursement rates from pharmacy benefit managers have made the model unsustainable,” said Schreiner. “Unfortunately, the current model had many claims reimbursed below the cost of the medications, and it’s no longer viable for our business. While this means discontinuing our community pharmacy services, we’re excited to focus on our long-term care services, where we can continue to make a meaningful impact by providing specialized care to patients with complex needs. We remain committed to advocating for reform to support the broader pharmacy community.”
Streu’s Pharmacy is committed to ensuring a smooth transition for patients and partners of the Community Pharmacy. Patients are encouraged to speak with their pharmacist during their visit, call 920-437-0206 or visit streuspharmacybaynatural.com for assistance with transferring their records.
