Three of America’s Top 25 Best Cities for Gen Z Workers are in the New North: Oshkosh ranked No. 2, Appleton ranked No. 8 and Sheboygan ranked No. 9.
This is according to a list released by Checkr, a San Francisco company that specializes in conducting background checks on job applicants. Checkr used data from the U.S. Census Bureau and Bureau of Economic Analysis to determine the best U.S. cities for Gen Z workers based on employment, affordability and social aspects.
Seven key metrics for Gen Z (people ages 18-27):
- Unemployment rate
- Labor force participation rate
- Income to rent ratio
- Percentage of renters paying <30% of income in rent
- Real personal income
- Gen Z portion of the population
- Gen Z member per entertainment establishment
The Midwestern cities ranking in the top 25 list “provide excellent opportunities for Gen Z workers in the employment category, while also ranking inside the top 50 for affordability.”
In addition to the three New North cities above, Fond du Lac was ranked No. 10 on Checkr’s America’s Best Mid-Sized Cities list.
