Three key players in Thrivent’s largescale redevelopment project will deliver a keynote presentation on Wilden Portfolio Park during Insight on Business’ InDevelopment conference Sept. 16 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Thrivent Financial in Appleton.
Situated along Interstate 41 and Ballard Road on Appleton’s northside, Thrivent is redeveloping its 580-acre campus into a mixed-use development that will feature commercial, retail, a mixture of housing types and recreational spaces. InDevelopment attendees will get the unique opportunity to hear about the project’s progress at the site itself.
Wilden will be the first multi-phase, mixed-use project in Northeast Wisconsin that creates a complete community where people can live, work and play. Construction is expected to begin later this year.
“The project represents a unique opportunity to create something transformative for Northeast Wisconsin while establishing a model for thoughtful, community-centered development,” says Manager of Facilities and Workplace Solutions at Thrivent Financial Kristie Schwahn.
Schwahn will present the keynote along with John Breitinger, executive director of Cushman & Wakefield, and Ian Martin, managing principal of Land By Label Development Co.
Following the keynote address, there will be a developer briefing from this year’s host city, the city of Appleton. Mayor Jake Woodford will lead discussions on several of the city’s recent economic development successes and plans including the relocation of U.S. Venture’s headquarters into the historic 222 Building, the $26.8 million redevelopment of the transit center and the $38 million Trout Museum of Art building scheduled to open this fall.
Manny Vasquez of Pfefferle Companies will lead a panel discussion on the state of industrial and commercial real estate in Northeast Wisconsin. The event concludes with a networking reception at which economic development leaders from around the 18-county region of the New North provide information on development opportunities and projects in their respective communities.
“InDevelopment has been showcasing the efforts of economic developers in the New North for the past 16 years. It’s amazing to see how our region has evolved in the time,” says Angela O’Kray, general manager of Insight. “The conference is a must-attend for anyone invested in the prosperity of our region.”
