Valley Transit is still waiting to find out if it will still receive a grant initially awarded to it for construction of a new center in downtown Appleton.

The system was informed last summer that it was getting $25 million from the federal Department of Transportation, but General Manager Ron McDonald says that is now under another round of review. The Transportation Secretary is Sean Duffy, the Seventh District Representative from Wisconsin from 2011 to 2019.

McDonald said that while the grant was highly competitive, he does not anticipate any problems.

The Valley Transit center will feature a bus station and operations center on the ground floor, some commercial space, and apartments on the upper levels. It will be located in the 200 block of N. Oneida Street.
