We Energies will continue purchasing power from the Point Beach Nuclear Plant through at least 2053 under the terms of a deal reached with NextEra Energy, which owns the power plant in Manitowoc County, according to BizTime Milwaukee.

The deal still needs to be approved by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin. The companies plan to file their agreement with regulators this fall, according to We Energies spokesman Brendan Conway.

We Energies currently has a power purchase agreement in place for around 1,000 MW of nuclear energy capacity from the Point Beach plant. That deal runs through 2030 for Unit 1 at the plant and 2033 for Unit 2.
