Wells Vehicle Electronics will close a manufacturing plant and a warehouse in Fond du Lac laying off 100 employees.
According to a notice sent to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, the company “has decided to conduct layoffs and, following the layoffs, shut down our operations associated with our manufacturing facility… and its supporting warehouse facility located at 420 Trowbridge Drive, Fond du Lac. These decisions resulted from the sale and subsequent closure of the Fond du Lac manufacturing facility, to which these operations were solely devoted.”
The expected date of the first separation is June 2 and all jobs will be eliminated by March 2027.
The company produces automotive electronics.
Niterra Co. acquired Wells in 2015. According to a video posted on social media March 25, the company was founded in Fond du Lac in 1903 and remains headquartered there.
