Wisconsin has a positive general fund balance at the end of the 2024-2025 fiscal year for the sixth consecutive year under Gov. Tony Evers.

The state’s annual comprehensive financial report showed a $3.9 billion positive GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles) balance in the general fund.

The state’s budget stabilization fund, or rainy day fund, as it is known, also closed out the fiscal year with a balance of $2 billion.

“My administration and I have remained committed to working across the aisle, being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars, and paying off our state’s debts, and after 30 consecutive years of the state running at a deficit, now, today, thanks to our diligent management of our state’s finances, we are celebrating six consecutive years of Wisconsin’s bank account being securely in the positive,” Evers said in a statement. “This is something that we can all be proud of, and it’s great news for the people of Wisconsin and our state’s economy.”
