Attorney General Josh Kaul and a multistate coalition secured a win blocking the Trump administration’s attempt to illegally withhold billions of dollars in congressionally approved funding for the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program.

In the coalition’s multistate lawsuit, the court granted summary judgment last week, concluding that the Trump administration had violated the Administrative Procedure Act and that its actions were “arbitrary and capricious.”

“This ruling safeguards tens of millions of dollars for projects in Wisconsin against the Trump administration’s unlawful attack on this program,” Kaul said in a statement. “This outcome is good for jobs and clean air in Wisconsin.”

In Wisconsin, the attempted funding freeze threatened more than $62 million in NEVI funds.
