Woman guilty of taking more than $300K from Appleton business

An Appleton woman was found guilty Monday of stealing more than $300,000 from her former employer and faces sentencing Dec. 4

Stacey Gersmehl, 50 pleaded no contest to one count of theft in a business setting.

According to court records, the owners of Fox Valley Title Co. discovered in December 2021 that Gersmehl had paid herself an unauthorized $3,000 total over six pay periods. Her employment was terminated and further investigation showed company funds missing dating back to 2012.

The company is seeking restitution of $326,000.
